Creagan Idara (Place of Joy) is a newly refurbished traditional croft house on a working croft, situated 5 miles north of the Outer Isles ferry port of Uig.
From the cottage there are lovely views over to the Isles of Harris and Lewis and the area is steeped in history with the old ruins of St Columba Monastery close by and also Kilvaxter Souterrain (underground stone lined tunnel associated with Iron Age) being located just next door.
The cottage is 5 miles from Uig the nearest main village, where there is a village shop, bakery, restaurants and hotels. The island’s capital town Portree is 15 miles further south and here you will find supermarkets, shops, restaurants and lively pubs.
Although the cottage has been refurbished and modernized it still retains the original character and charm of days gone by. The accommodation within the house is beautifully presented with great attention to detail and the spacious entrance hall has a conveniently placed sofa from which you can relax and enjoy the lovely views.
There is a comfortable dining room also with sea views and the kitchen is well equipped with washing machine, dryer, dishwasher and fridge/freezer.
The Lounge has an open fire and a TV, DVD, Radio, CD player and books and games are also provided. The bathroom completes the accommodation on the ground floor and this has a separate shower. On the first floor there are three bedrooms - a family room with a double and single bed, a twin bedroom and a single room. The cottage has oil central heating throughout which along with the electricity is included in the rental.
